Expectations for Student Effort 

[Describe how much time students should expect to invest in the course each week. Graduate courses should state: "For each hour of lecture equivalent, students should expect to have a minimum of two hours of work outside of class." Note that Global campus courses will automatically include credit hour equivalents in the syllabus.]

Students should expect to spend a minimum of 9 hours per week including lectures engaged with this course.

Estimated Breakdown:

6 hours of studio time in class / week = 90 hours

3 hours on outside class work / week = 45 hours

  • Outside work will include but not be limited to meetings with sponsor, writing reports, holding team meetings for milestone tracking, and research.

Borderline cases (for example, 89.001—89.999) will all be rounded up unless student has had more than 2 unexcused absences in which case the grade will be rounded down.


Attendance and Make-Up Policy 

[Provide details on how attendance affects final course grades. Indicate whether and how missed exams, laboratory sessions, etc. can be made up. Sample attendance statement: “Students should make all reasonable efforts to attend all class meetings. Studio sessions are critical to your team’s ability to make progress on the project. Weekly instructor meetings will also take place during these times. Attendance at all studio sessions is required. Failure to attend or participate in these meetings will result in a 2% deduction in the Teamwork/Participation category per infraction.
