For each hour of lecture, students should expect to have a minimum of two hours of work outside of class.

Grading [add more lines if necessary]

Assignment Breakdown
Type of Assignment (tests, papers, etc) Points Percent of Overall Grade
Present and engaged 15 15%
Attend all FYI courses & gather information 25 25%
Self & Student perspective (weeks 1-3) 10 10%
Classroom management plan (weeks 4-5) 10 10%
Key leadership skills (weeks 6-9) 10 10%
Course content (weeks 10-12) 10 10%
Final Presentation (weeks 13-15) 20 20%

Grading Schema
Grade Percent Grade Percent
A >=95% C >=74% & <77%
A-  >=90% & <95% C- >=70% & <74%
B+ >=87% & <90% D+ >=67% & <70%
B >=84% & <87% D >=64% & <67%
B- >=80% & <84% F <64%
C+ >=77% & <80%

[Provide information about how grades will be rounded (eg, if 89% earns a B+ and 90% earns an A-, what grade is given to a student with an 89.5?]

Grades will be rounded to the nearest whole value, with 0.5 and above rounding up and 0.4 and below rounding down. For example, 89.5 would be rounded to 90%, while 89.4 would be rounded to 89%.

Attendance and Make-Up Policy

[Provide details on how attendance affects final course grades. Indicate whether and how missed exams, laboratory sessions, etc. can be made up. Sample attendance statement: “Students should make all reasonable efforts to attend all class meetings. However, in the event a student is unable to attend a class, it is the responsibility of the student to inform the instructor as soon as possible, explain the reason for the absence (and provide documentation, if appropriate), and make up class work missed within a reasonable amount of time, if allowed. Missing class meetings may result in reducing the overall grade in the class.” ]

Attendance, and Late Work Make-up Policy

This class has a heavy emphasis on in-class activities, so missing class meetings may result in reducing the overall grade in the class. No more than three unexcused absences are allowed in this course.

  • Assignments submitted up to 48 hours late incur a 10% penalty.
  • No submissions accepted after 48 hours without documented emergency and instructor approval.
  • Attendance & Participation: Required for all lecture sessions. No more than three unexcused absences are allowed in this course.
