Course Description
All students seeking a Public Health degree must complete 4 credits in an internship position (180 total hours) related to their career interests and goals within the field of public health. Internships are supervised professional learning opportunities where students work closely with a mentor to develop and practice skills in a real-world setting. The internship site can be a local, state or federal public health agency, a not-for-profit organization or a private sector company that aligns with the student’s chosen career path. Students may split their internship across two separate experiences by enrolling in the course for 1 or 2 credits per experience.

Attendance and Make-Up Policy
Students should make all reasonable efforts to attend all scheduled internship hours. However, in the event a student is unable to attend, it is the responsibility of the student to inform the internship supervisor and the instructor as soon as possible, explain the reason for the absence (and provide documentation, if appropriate), and make up any work missed within a reasonable amount of time, if allowed. Missing scheduled internship hours may result in reducing the overall grade in the class.
